Executive Function Coaching
Everyone learns differently. Teaching should be geared towards a variety of abilities and learning styles. ConnectPrep tutors take the time to boost students’ confidence levels to overcome any learning challenge.
ADD/ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (also known as Attention Deficit Disorder) varies tremendously from person to person. Depending on a variety of factors, ADHD may impact your student’s ability to focus as well stay on task and it may also increase their likeliness to be hyperactive and impulsive.
Anxiety
We work with our students who struggle with anxiety by creating a supportive, structured, environment that creates a sense of control. Similar to our Study Skills program, we create an atmosphere that allows confidence and self-esteem to grow through one-on-one collaboration. Our instructors will help build a foundation that will allow students to feel more comfortable in the classroom and excel with their academics and test-prep.
Autism (ASD) and Asperger's Syndrome
When your child displays characteristics of Autism (ASD) or Asperger’s Syndrome we see this an opportunity to build a learning program to help them maximize their academic potential. We have a specialized team that provides educational services to children with these challenges. Our goal is to foster for your child’s learning through individualized growth plans that we tailor to each students needs. We build a team with our families, students, and teachers to ensure success in all classroom environments. Some of the specific areas we focus on include:
- Learning problems
- Working through abstract concepts
- Cognitive training
- Strengthening communication
- Improving thoughts and transitions
- Sensory processing challenges
- Stabilizing moods and improving behavior
- Reducing anxiety and building confidence
CAPD
Central Auditory Processing Disorder is a condition where a child’s brain and auditory systems don’t consistently integrate with one another resulting in auditory processing delays of connected speech and language patterns as well as decreased ability to interpret and correctly implement multiple-step directions. These students exhibit increased difficulty performing in a classroom environment when environmental noise and distractions occur.
Dyslexia and Dysgraphia
Dyslexia and Dysgraphia are distinct learning challenges that affect individuals in different ways. Dyslexia primarily impacts reading and language processing, making it difficult for individuals to decode words, comprehend text, and recognize phonological patterns. Dysgraphia, on the other hand, pertains to difficulties in handwriting and fine motor skills, leading to challenges in producing legible and consistent writing. It's essential to understand that these challenges are not reflections of intelligence, but rather unique ways the brain processes information. At ConnectPrep, our learning specialists play a pivotal role in assisting students with these challenges. They provide tailored accommodations and strategies to address individual needs, ensuring that each student has an optimal learning environment. Through specialized teaching methods, understanding, and support, we aim to help every learner reach their full potential.
EFD
Executive Function Skills–Many children have been diagnosed with an EF deficit and need assistance with keeping on task, planning, organizing, collaborating, decision making, and remembering all of the details. Similar to our Study Skills program our specialized Instructors will put together a detailed learning plan to work with a student to teach and reinforce study skills, content support, and organization.
We can teach students how to plan and prioritize for success in and outside of the classroom.
