According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 14% or 7.1 million students of all public school students in the United States received special education services during the 2018-2019 school year. There has been an 11% increase from 2000-01 to 2017-18 for special education services with the trend most likely to increase each year. Our education system is already strained as the current student to teacher ratio does not support this type of growth.
That’s where ConnectPrep comes in. We know that everyone learns differently, and the best teachers are the ones who can adapt their teaching styles to meet the needs of their students. This is exactly what our instructors do through our Executive Function Coaching and Study Skills programs.
ConnectPrep’s instructors cater to your student’s needs, building a relationship with them to help boost their confidence and comfort when dealing with any challenge. While we are an education company and often focus on increasing a student’s understanding of academic subject matter, we also specialize in helping students develop or improve life skills which are used both in school and at home.
Our Study Skills program helps students develop important skills and habits which last a lifetime. We teach the importance of setting attainable but challenging goals to help students accomplish long-term tasks and experience the feeling of accomplishment and success. We also teach time management, organization, and planning skills to help students in their day-to-day lives. We help your child learn fundamental skills and develop the mindset they need to succeed.
ConnectPrep instructors teach other skills which are also essential in an academic background, as well as throughout life, such as note-taking, memorization, listening, and communication. The goal for our students is to learn the importance of responsibility and accountability early on to ensure a successful academic career and life.
Our Executive Function Coaching program teaches similar skills but caters to students with learning challenges or other conditions which impact their education. Our instructors can provide in-person and virtual sessions with any of our students. A few of the conditions we specialize in include ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, Autism(ASD), Asperger’s Syndrome, and Central Auditory Processing Disorder. We also help families receive accommodations, 504 plans, and IEP’s.
