Data Insights Mastery

Data Insights — The Section That Separates 680 From 720

Most GMAT students focus almost entirely on Quant and Verbal — and neglect Data Insights until the final weeks. That is where they lose points. DI is 20 questions worth exactly as much as the other two sections, and it has five distinct question types that require separate strategies. ConnectPrep trains each one explicitly from week one.

Moved from Quant to DI in the Focus Edition. Tests whether you have enough information to answer a question — not whether you can actually solve it. An on-screen calculator is available. How long does GMAT prep take?
Most students need 8 to 12 weeks. Working professionals typically allocate 10 to 15 hours per week. ConnectPrep recommends taking the GMAT 3 to 4 months before your earliest application deadline — allowing time for score delivery (7 days), potential retakes (16-day minimum wait), and application time. The GMAT is available year-round, both online and at Pearson VUE centers, so scheduling flexibility is excellent.
GMAT vs. GRE — which test should I take for business school?
Most top MBA programs accept both. The GMAT Focus Edition is specifically designed for business school and signals commitment to the MBA path. The GRE is better if you are also considering non-business programs. The Focus Edition's updated Verbal section (no Sentence Correction) levels the playing field for non-native English speakers. What is the GMAT Select Score feature?
Select Score allows you to preview your unofficial GMAT score immediately after the exam — before deciding whether to cancel it or report it to schools. This is a significant strategic advantage. You can keep the score or cancel it, with no schools ever seeing a cancelled score. ConnectPrep advises all students on Select Score strategy — including how to decide in the moment whether the score is reportable based on your pre-established target range.
How many times can I take the GMAT?
You can take the GMAT Focus Edition up to 5 times in any 12-month rolling period, with a minimum of 16 days between attempts. There is a lifetime limit of 8 attempts. Scores are valid for 5 years. The GMAT is available year-round — online with remote proctoring (24/7) or at Pearson VUE test centers worldwide.
